BIKE THIEF BOOKS ADVANCE ORDERS !

Bhayandar: Mira Road’s Naya Nagar police have finally apprehended a notorious bike thief whose unique style of functioning could attract producers to induct the rip-off in their Bollywood flicks.

Identified as Asif Ansari (19), the accused is said be involved in a series of bike thefts from parking lots of posh localities in and around the city. However, instead of finding a post theft buyer, Ansari had implemented an unique mechanism by apparently reversing the process – he executed the thefts based on demands and preferences of their prospective clientele and middlemen.


A few years back, Ansari was into stealing bicycles but soon he graduated to two wheeler for his craving for money to fund a lavish lifestyle, police said. The matter came to light when a 20-year-old youth was arrested after he was caught zooming around on a stolen bike last month.

The accused not only exposed the identity of the kingpin but also revealed their modus operandi which unlike the traditional practice of steal and sell, executed out tailor-made thefts as per the model of in-demand bikes preferred by the prospective customers, police said. After playing hide and seek with cops for over a month, Ansari was finally nabbed following a tip-off about his presence in Mira Road. Not ruling out his involvement in more cases, investigating officer API Jadhav said, “So far, he has led us to nine bikes he had stolen from the twin city.” (Free Press Journal).
